Being an entrepreneur often means that you have a leader, but what actually makes a good one? What traits, qualities, and skills do you need to successfully lead a team to exceed business goals and objectives?
For the 14th episode of 11th Talks, Louie Qu, who is a keynote speaker, entrepreneur, and investor, shared his insights about the levels of leadership and how you can take steps to maximise your leadership capabilities.
Watch the video recording or read the following article to learn about Louie’s insights.
There are 5 levels of leadership: Position, Permission, Production, Reproduction, and Respect. The lowest level, Position, is simply when someone has a leadership title but without the motivation, influence, and impact on their members. To maximise one’s leadership, one has to work their way up to the highest rung: respect. This is when your constituents have full faith and trust in you.
To climb levels, one must consider what makes a good leader and use those traits as a toolkit. Faith, Elevation, Resolve, Competence, Humility, Authenticity, and Warmth are all important factors in making a good leader. Using only one or a few of these traits is not sufficient; one should be able to utilise all these factors in order to truly maximise one’s own leadership potential.
To climb the rungs, here’s a short guide of how to use the toolkit factors in order to go to the next step. You must assess your situation in order to figure out what type of leader you are, then use the appropriate factors in the toolkit to ascend to the next level. But, one must remember not to lose the previous parts of the toolkit while climbing, because these serve as foundations to being a good leader.
