11th Space brings you a series of fortnightly interactive talks designed to equip international students in preparing them for their next stage in life. This event is proudly supported by our community partners, the Indonesian Student Associations (PPIA) at RMIT University, Deakin University, Swinburne University, as well as Monash University.

The sessions are conducted on Zoom, featuring Indonesian professionals and business owners that will share from their own experience. The sessions are designed to be relaxed, open & interactive, to encourage a lot of questions from the audience.

The second episode will discuss another popular topic among international students which is “Starting a Business in Australia for International Students” moderated by Kennie Kurniawan (Marketing Manager of 11th Space). We’re proud to have Daniel Tan, Founder of Pencil Rocket and Hao Teo, Founder of iDibs as guest speakers that will share their successful entrepreneurial story in Australia.

We will discuss questions such as:

  • Can you start a business when you’re an international student in Australia?
  • What are the practical steps to start a business? How to comply with local regulations?

Daniel Tan

Daniel Tan is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Pencil Rocket – a Melbourne-based social media agency that helps businesses brand themselves through social media marketing and video production.

Daniel has experience working with diverse industries from tech, education, hospitality, construction to real estate. Having worked closely with his clients, Daniel is able to pool from an extensive wealth of knowledge to help small businesses grow and compete in this complex marketing environment.

Hao Teo

Hao Teo started iDibs after realising the difficulties of internationals in Australia. He developed the social enterprise to create transparency and convenience for internationals in Australia. In doing so, Hao won the VIEA (Victorian International Education Award) Alumnus 2019.

Other than his startup, he is passionate about finance and also studied I.T. to expand his skills and knowledge to explore the fin-tech space (Also for the purpose of P.R.).

During his free time, if any, he practices the guitar, Muay Thai or just enjoys the occasional dog-spotting.
